VetNetA forum dedicated to ALL Veterans... their unique needs and wants. A place where Veterans old and new can discuss their problems and find the help and support they are looking for.
Anyone here belong to a Veteran's group such as the DAV? These groups typically offer a great lifeline in assisting with the VA and their myriad of BS.
One group in particular stands out in my mind and that is the DAV. I say this mainly because they are a Ford partner and as a Ford partner, the Ford X-plan pricing is offered to it's membership. This could be the case with other groups, not sure but certainly worth a look.
With vehicle prices as they are today, every dollar helps to ratchet the costs down to a more manageable level. X-plan pricing is not the golden egg that it once was but it's still quite respectable in a time when 10-12% off is more normal than the 20%+ that we used to enjoy.
The only thing I belong to is the AL and have for 43 years but in our area we are becoming fewer and fewer as we have services for the aging members. I've already navigated the VA BS with the help of a great county advocate but I took a long time, I have a great satellite clinic 33 miles away but for major health problems I use my Medicare in combination with the VA.
My county rep did a good job, but I think we may have reached his limits. He got a lot done. Now the VA has come back and cut comp levels by just over half. One reason listed was no recent surgeries for one condition when I was in surgery 5 days before the date on the letter.
He filed a bunch paperwork and requests for another review. Left it the same with no explanation. I’ll talk to him Monday about it & DAV advocates or an attorney.
Service Groups do a lot of good but I already belong to a number of organizations & clubs and with all my extra curricular activities I’m spread pretty thin
