Hi everyone, my 97 F250 HD has 60k rust free miles and is running well. I’m pleasantly surprised by how many OEM parts are still available at reasonable pricing (I’m used to 1970’s and 80’s where that’s the not the case). I’m consider proactively buying a few parts that typically go bad on these trucks before they are rare and expensive. Potentially things like a dual tank switching valve and switch, window motors and rollers, etc. Can you give me feedback on the most common parts that fail early (pre 100k). Also any feedback in general you have on this concept is welcome.
Many parts just wear out. Fuel pumps, coolant pumps, starters, alternators, hoses, belts, etc.
Parts seem to wear out if the vehicle is used or not. I have a 95 F250 and the drivers side window motor failed. I do have a regulator and the gear drive that is in the motor. It's on my list of things do to. Other than almost nothing has failed. I do not consider wear items as failed parts. Oh yeah, I did have an ignition lock cylinder wear out.
Not a bad idea to get your EEC-IV repaired [capacitors leak] as well as the PSOM. My PSOM was rebuilt [maintenance] last summer. My EEC-IV has no capacitors.
