64 F100 T98 trans with Dana 60-2 4:10 rear end. Going to 3:54 gear ratio in the 60-2. What would be the proper drive gear off the tranny for this and what does the gear look like? Forgot to pull the cable when I removed the rear diff and am to lazy to go out to the shop and do it.
I got them from a member her about 4 years ago. He sold me the complete internals. I am just finally getting around to getting them in.
Oops evidently my cellphone logged me into an old account that I accidently created. Forgot I even did that. I wonder if admin can delete the gonsnow account, so I don't do this again? But my answer is still the same
3.54 not available until 1965 but hopefully this list helps. Depends on tire size so as you change between your 15" and 16" wheels you would likely notice some difference as I'm sure you know.
I did the exact same thing 20 years ago. This is my backstory. I have a 64 f100 it has the Dana 60-2 4.10 limited slip axle (B5) code. T98 transmission and 223 engine. My truck lived its first 40 years in Kalispell Mt. It was my dad’s shop truck. He used it personally until he passed away in 2005. It has been mine since it is Caribbean turquoise just like yours. The first thing I did with the truck was put on new tires and new rear end gearing. Driving from Kalispell to Tacoma with the 4:10’s was brutal 50 mph on I-90 sucked. With the carrier you have 3.54 is the highest you can go. I got mine out of a mid 70’s F250. It was a regular Dana 60, but the ring and pinion was the same. I got a bearing and seal kit and Randy’s ring and pinion. The install went great. The T98 driven gear is a big metal gear. Not the plastic one you would think. I could not source the right tooth count I needed. What I did was calculate the percentage of error I had and got a Stewart Warner ratio adapter. 20 years ago it was around $60. Now my speedometer and odometer are right on. I can now good a comfortable 60-65 mph with the 3.54 and lt235/75r15 tires. Let me if you anymore info. I did this 20 years ago so my memory is a little foggy on the details. Good luck.
Well according to TA's chart given mine came with 650 16 tires originally I need either an 18 or a 17 gear. I pulled mine and it is the steel gear as you mentioned and is 18 tooth. I will go with that and use my GPS to see how accurate the speedo is when I get it back together.
