No speedometer gear

Gents,

I pulled my trans out the other day to replace some gaskets and I have misplaced the speedo gear. No freaking clue where it is. And I have no clue as to what I need. It's a 76 2WD, 3 spd manual with 3.5 gear ratio. Tires are P235/175R15s

anyone a speedo gear expert out there?

Which speedo gear? DRIVE gear located on the output shaft, DRIVEN gear located at the end of the cable in the trans.

Is the rear axle a Ford 9" or a Dana 44? Dana has an inspection cover, the 9 does not.
