Horrible PCM issues!
Horrible PCM issues!
Me and my wife bought a truck. Test drive fine til I got on the road. It felt like there was a dead spot in the throttle and ran like crap. A bunch of codes were in the computer including 513. (Other codes were 117 126 122 327 513 553 552 565 556 558) decided to try a new pcm and ordered a reman one online. Plugged it in and it ran amazingly for 5 seconds then smoke and the truck shut off and pulled back out the PCM and it was smoking. PCM fuses are fine and I checked out all the wiring around the plug and fuse box and nothing out of the ordinary. Please help or my wife will kill me!
What truck did you buy?
513: PCM internal voltage failure was not good and explains a lot of the voltage codes.
Was that was “reman” computer with a warranty? Did the engineering number on the label match what was removed?

More than likely you have other issues, with which the first computer told you.
As the other issues persisted, and probably started one by one, probably started to cook your first computer.
Plug another computer in, with all those problems, and poof, smoke like you saw.

What is the full story on this truck? Did the PO do an engine swap perhaps that included wiring changes? The volume of codes set and what appears to be a short curcuit suggests a major circuit miswire, that's not surprising if the PO swapped in an engine wiring harness from a different year truck. Another possibility is rodent damage to a wiring harness, either way you have some troubleshooting to do.
Rash of codes so you buy a processor, no wonder the wife is pissed
Clear codes and retest with the original processor
Make sure that processor is the one for the truck
Your door jamb calibration sticker should have the tear tag listed and will match the computers tag
My processor is a JAG1 and my calibration tag says the calibration and JAG1
That is one way to verify if the processor matches the truck
Make sure someone did not hook up the processor ground to power (seen it)
Get a PCED and read up
Do the pinpoint tests for each code listed
Start with the lowest numerical code
Good luck

Yes, but there are pinpoint tests to get you to that point in the PCED
Might have been wrecked and have a severed harness or a wiring issue
Clear codes and retest is always first when you get a rash of codes
A lot of codes get set just when the battery gets low
I always want to re initialize, Battery charged and a retest maybe disconnect the battery while charging
Been working on Lincolns for so long, the battery charger is FIRST for diagnosing anything
Not that I suspect that is the problem and it does need a processor most likely
