Mark K will chime in to set us straight, but my understanding is that the oil leaving the converter goes to the cooler, then drains in the back of the transmission. There is a check ball at the rear fitting. Not certain when that cracks open, but it is used to keep the cooler circuit full [ie no drain back w/engine off]. I suspect the amount of pressure will depend on the amount of coolers and how much those coolers will restrict flow.
Unless you got a serious restriction, the pressure should not be that high. If you got the oil bypass at the side of the transmission, there is a check ball there that prevents the circuit from getting too much pressure. I want to say it's 75psi, but again, Mark K will set us straight. If it is indeed 75psi, the cooler circuit should not go higher than 75psi.
