Rattle noise

This sounds different from regular "diesel rattle". It happens only within 600 - 800 rpm range under load only while accelerating, then it goes away. I read elsewhere that it is predetonation due to timing being too much advanced and this is why I was playing with timing. I am going to leave it alone for now. If I figure out how to mount the phone to make a better and longer video while driving, I'll post here again.

Have you given thought to the timing advance systems built into the pump? You have a cold start advance and I believe an advance system that is governed by fuel pressure. Does the cold start system work? Timing advance while running would require a timing light to see what is going on. Hard starting cold could be a cold start advance not working correctly. Just some things to think about.

Never thought of it, thanks. I have already found that I have massive air intrusion even though I have replaced fuel return lines, caps and o-rings. Since this is not related to the original thread title, I started a new one.
