I put eight 70 lb bags over my axle with no problems. What do you mean by hopped real bad?
.sorry, let me clarify..........i got 2 wheel drive........xxx heavy rear springs........it takes 600 lbs just to make them move some.i am not kidding.........i have LS 3:73 REAR also HD front suspension..........it takes alot to make these springs work............i got a e150 van//////great in the snow.....loaded..........got a older f250 ///300 //6 //great in the snow..........this beast .....NEEDS TO BE MAXED IN THE BED to move
You only used 600 lbs? I have to use 1000+ lbs in my bus. 500 is to counter the weight of the engine, than another 500+ for the traction weight. With no weight I know I can get the rear end off the ground.

I have 560 lbs and you can't tell the truck has anything in it either, but what about the hop? Wheel hop? In the snow?
Wow... My '01 F-250 SuperCrew 4x2 pulled 3 vehicles (Proudly, none were Fords!) out of ditches this last snow here in St. Louis. I used ten 50# bags of play sand at the tailgate. No spinning, no hopping, just traction. I'm also off those crappy stock tires, though... Using Michelin ATX M/S tires... Those babies are AWESOME!

I put about 500 lbs.of cinder blocks over the axel after getting stuck in 3 inchs of snow on a practically level area. Made a big difference. I have a 02 4x2 F250SC with LS. Stock tires will go when a good deal comes along.
