2000 7.3 Idle Issue
One reading is from KOEO and one is from KOER. Thsi was with the truck warm and at idle. My ICP is low as is my idle speed. When this happens the truck shakes and develops a fuel knock. The truck is not using oil and i am running 15w-40 synthetic. I pulled the ICP plug out and there is a thin film of oil inside. Running the truck with the ICP unplugged turned on the SES light and made it run worse. Plugging it back in and restarting the truck turned off the light and it resumed with the same readings as above. Do I start with swapping the ICP sensor? Can I test the HPOP a little more definitively? Just looking for guidance.
Extra info:
the truck failed both cylinder contribution and KOER tests for unknown reasons. KOER test stopped and left the trucks idle at 1000 rpm.
Tested fuel pressure last week, pre filter it is perfect at WOT and idle. Post filter it fluctuated at WOT, replaced filter
Injectors rebuilt 2 years ago, at the same time I added FRX, Riffraff High volume fuel pickup (to eliminate in tank strainers and plastic foot), and a fuel strainer inline before the pump.
A) I always thought that if the ICP has oil on the plug end, its failed or beginning to fail. But would that be related to cylinder contribution? Maybe its not giving you enough pressure, so certain injectors aren't firing correctly?
B) Did you do a buzz test?
C) Idle speed is a little low, but not crazy. Mine idles about 700 on average.
D) Stupid question, but could you be getting air into the system at all? The prefilter / screen before the pump?
