Ok here's the deal. When at idle my engine idles rough, and when I hit the throttle and back off, it will lope and will take a couple seconds to get back to a normal idle. Any suggestions on what may be the cause, and has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Thanks guys

Find someone that has a scanner. Have them run a cylinder contribution test. This should pinpoint the cylinder. It sounds like an injector bypassing to much oil at idle.
Mech2161, I will look into it . Was wondering if the ICP, or cam sensor could possibly have anything to do with it? Maybe a clogging fuel filter?
Thanks
Well as it turns out, it didn't completely cure the problem. It is a little better, but started up with the rough idle again. The loping isn't as bad as it was, but this is still a nuisance, and only does it as the rpms are returning to idle. Any more ideas while I am in the process of getting this think licked would be greatly appreciated.
Is the lope at a cold start up and what is the outside temperature?
The lope and rough idle are throughout the engine operating temperature range. During the day, when I do most of my driving, it averages around 35 to 40 degrees. The truck has never acted this way in cold weather before, but who knows.
my truck idles a little rougher sometimes since i installed the predator tuner... some tunes are worse than others... i think i have a cps going bad though... so this may be contributing to the problem... it isn't so bad that i can't live with it, but i am planning on changing the cps soon anyway...
Have you tried removing the "juice" and running the stock
program?
I did pull the juice, didn't really make much difference. I read a few other posts where some folks had a similar problem, and it turned out to be their IPR being gunked up. I removed mine, it was nasty, but not too bad. It did seem to help with the rough idle, but it still has the romp-romp-romp to it once it goes below 1000rpms and returns to idle. I did notice that the attitude monitor was reading erratic rpms, which are intermittent, and the engine itself isn't jumping around as much as the readout is showing. Dunno if that is pointing to a possible cps problem. I feel that I may be getting somewhere, just hope I can get this thing figured out soon.

Thanks for all the info; I will look into the possibility of the ICP sensor going south on me. If I can't figure this thing out, might have to break down and find a shop that knowledgeable with the 7.3 PSD. Thanks again guys.
Well, looks like I have resolved the issue. I cleaned my IPR, replaced the ICP, and for good measure, swapped out my CPS, and now she runs like a champ. Also seems like she gained a few ponies that went missing. Thanks again for all the info.

What is IPR? And i am starting to have similar issues i think...idle is rougher.....not real smooth as before.seems to be constantly moving a little but never moved at idle before..and can hear it surge each time a little...and seems to be constantly down on power throughput operating temp and range.....almost like its not hitting on all 8....but obviously not that extreme but i hope you get what i am saying. And very rough on start ups. Sound similar?
