I posted once before but I believe I posted in the wrong area..I have a 01 7.3 that has developed an issue at idle once the truck is warmed up..sounds like a random miss..I’ve changed injector o rings fresh oil chance and fuel filter..I don’t have access to a scanner but I’m wondering if this is possibly injectors taking a crap or something else possibly…truck cruises fine but when I come down to idle is when I have the issue…doesn’t do it cold..truck starts fine every time
I have not changed the icp or ipr truck has 240k on it..I did change the cps and did the hpx cross over…I’ll see about picking up a cheap tablet so I can use forscan..what number should I be looking for? Thanks again for your help and knowledge
With an original ICP sensor, take a look at the pigtail and make sure the wires look good well into the loom. Check for oil leaking into the pigtail connector from the sensor.
If all good there, try unplugging the ICP sensor and running the truck that way for a drive or two. See how it runs then. If idle is smooth, no misses running on the PCM default values for ICP, we blame the ICP sensor.
If it still misses, recommend rebuilding the IPR valve or replacing it. Motorcraft only for these parts.
Good warm idle ICP will be 470-500 psi or so . IPR% will be 8-12%. Both will read higher when cold.
