tachometer help

I have a 1995 f150 with the 5.8 engine. Truck has 145,000 miles. it has been a very good vehicle, but recently the tachometer has been acting strangely. A few weeks ago it would not register immediately upon starting the engine and yesterday it did not come at all for the ride to work, but worked fine on the drive home. Everything is stock on the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try the various connection to the tach. sound like somethings loose.
