I have owned my 2023 F-350 for approximately 6-months. The exhaust filter indicator would move in predictable manner, then the regen cycle would run as expected. About 10-days ago, the regen cycle ran, but since that time, exhaust filter indicator has not registered anything - it just sits at 0%. No check engine lights or warnings. Based on my driving pattern (all city), %full should be steadily moving up. Should I be concerned?
Seems normal. You wont know the actual readings unless you have something like an iDash that reads the actual sensors. What you see on the dash is just an algorithm based on sensor readings and not the actual real reading. When the dash reads 100% (pre-2020 GEN engines) the actual DPF soot level is much lower. What can happen is the DPF isn't sooting up as much as the last couple post regens, so its putting out 0%. The 23/24 engine runs much hotter, which produces less soot and DEF helps to keep it clean.
IOW don't worry about it, you just got a really good cleaning last time around.
My 23 is all over the place . Most of the time it goes 300 miles then starts to creep up until regen , sometimes it stays at 0 for all 500 miles and does a regen anyway . This is with towing or empty . I will say, the highest percentage the dash has ever shown is 55%. Never saw it climb above that . I’ve noticed changes with different fuel stations etc . I just leave it alone
The Filter plugs with Soot. Soot comes from unburnt fuel. basically you get soot when you over fuel. Think Rednecks putting bigger injectors in and blowing black smoke in days past.
If you drive your truck in a mild fashion. ie No hard acceleration, no towing, no climbing mountain grades. Your truck is pretty efficient at only injecting the amount of fuel needed. Which produces very little soot. So if you had a complete Active regen last regen cycle and you driven easy, your DPF will not increase very fast. And you will still do an Active Regen at 500 miles regardless of what the % shows.
Don't worry about it. Just drive it and the truck will take care of the regen process.
