I have a few broken and want to replace these clips after I respray the top of my core support before I get my new radiator and engine in but I am having trouble finding the part number for these clips.
I found some for newer Fords online but didnt trust them, I looked in my parts and illustration guide, cant find even a diagram that shows a reference number for these clips in my illustration guide. I looked in my 73-79 Lincoln/Mercury illustration guide and found it marked as 382929-S which I was able to find online but theses have a raised rib on the top of the eye just like the one on my '78 Mercury but my '82 F150 doesnt have these ribs. I dont even know where to look up those kind of numbers in the illustration guide to try and find a cross over.
If anyone knows where to look for the correct part number for theses retaining clips I would greatly appreciate it.
Long time no hear. Think the last you were dropping in a new motor?
On the clips I am guessing they hold the cable in place as it runs from the firewall to the latch?
I wonder if they are part of the latch assy. when you buy a new one and why you cant find them?
You said you found them for the 78 for a car did you try looking up them for a 80's car the same way?
But to tell the truth unless someone told me about the rib / no rib on them I and others would never know.
Look at my 81 F100 flare side and the dual tanks and the metal ribbed bed floor.
Only a few know about the floor not being wood when seeing it at shows and no one has said anything about the rear "dual" tank.
If you need the clips and that is all you can get I would go with them.

The retainers from LMC are the same design and 74¢ each so a little cheaper. For must have changed the part for ‘87 because that is used on both the m87 Bronco and the ‘89 F-150.

Must have been back and forth on them. The listing actually shows they were for: 1971-1973 MUSTANG and 1971-1973 COUGAR WIRE HARNESS ON REAR MARKER LIGHT BODY, 1 PER BODY (2 REQD) # 382929-S

I was working on it; I ended up getting let go from the shop this past June after nearly being there for 10 years, so I've been working on getting things ready to actually do the install. I finally got the truck moved up under the carport a few weeks back and started stripping under the hood, but I've been getting delayed by weather and I can't paint with high humidity. I just recently today got a warm low humidity day to scuff up and respray my oil pan. Only thing left is pull the heater box, wiper motor, and brake booster off the firewall then I want to fix rust damage by the heater box then primer, spray, and clear the firewall then clean the frame as best as I can before I drop the new engine in. Will be updating my EFI thread on here with all that has been done since last update however.
Yep, there's two clips on the front fender holding the cable to the front fender then one clip on the radiator support before it goes to the hood latch assembly.
I looked in the same section couldnt find a listing for trucks but I did find a listing for the vans in the 80-89 catalog so I am just looking at the same part number for the '78. NOS ones have a nub at 12 o'clock while replacement ones that list replacing the same part number has the nubs at 10 and 2

Thats the type that I am looking for, many state they are used for metal hardline as well as harness retension.

That looks like the replacement types that I have found. the NOS ones I found has the nub only at 12 o clock. Maybe the NOS ones have changed since the original, but if they look like this then ill just buy the replacement ones since I can get a bag of 25 for $9.99 vs getting just one for $10.

I thought of doing that as well if I couldnt find the right ones, just use some wire ties with the push pin retainer built in.

Ribs or not, I doubt that it would really matter to 99.9% of people looking
True, I dont know what the ribs are for, but I know the NOS Ford one is nub at 12 while the replacement types are 10 and 2. Im just going to order the replacement type cause its cheaper.

Yep thats what I am looking for is a cheap price, cause I cant justify paying some $10 for just one plastic retainer.
This is the NOS Ford one I found online
and this is the replacement types I found that list being a replacement for this Ford part number as well as a GM part number.
If others are wondering the part number I found is 382929-S, this is the same as for my '78 Cougar as well as coming up for a '86 E150 but no listing for a F150 but they have to be all the same Ford wouldnt make one clip and not use it in every application that needed these clips.

LAWN MOWERS ?.... SOME lawn mowers have cables running down the handle..Some have a hole in the tubing and the clip pops in the same way as on a flat surface.. Should look like a factory did it but just not your official Ford issue part
