No start problem

No start problem

My truck will Initially start andruns great. However, after a couple of stops, it won’t start. If I leave it set for a while, I can restart it. I change the PCM with a new one from full force diesel. The truck started up and ran with no problem. I parked it and did not start again just like it did before.

Any ideas I'm stumped.

No restart when hot is usually a symptom of low ICP caused by (in no particular order) leaking injector o-rings, faulty IPR valve, failing HPOP. What made you decide to replace the PCM?

The scan had the code for it. It also showed that a power surge had happened.

I would have cleared all codes, and started over again.
not much can kill the PCM normally.

High Voltages ( alternators that run amok can do this )
Shorts on wires that should not have a short.

Get some Can Spray Air Duster... spray that cold air on IPR and see if it will start after that. Or pour ice water on it. Have read previous stories of people doing that to find an overheated IPR

Only purchase a motorcraft IPR (or rebuild kit) from a very reputable source like Riffraff, CCN Fab, Ford dealer. Amazon and eBay are full of convincing fakes.

Problem with rebuild kits is they do not include the electric solenoid. That is the part that fails when hot. So it's new IPR time.

As said above only buy Motorcraft, and only from trusted sources. Plenty of fakes out there.
