Dash lights?

So yesterday i had to drive home in the dark which was kinda annoying as my dash lights don't work at all. The blinkers work and the fasten seatbelt light comes on in the beginning but for the rest no light at all. Also no gear indicator light and as of yesterday the interior door lights also stopped working. Anyone who can guide me in where to start instead of just buying a new cluster to start with? Could it be that there is a fuse for all these lights? Or do i need to search somewhere else for this.

1. Ck fuses. Keep in mind the fuse box is actually rotated counterclockwise, with #1&2 at the top and #7 is at the bottom.
2. Did you rotate the head light to brighten the dash lights up as much as possible. Rotate it CC to the bump to get them to be the brightest, and past the bump turns on the dome with the door closed.

Sounds like your headlight switch might be causing those issues, it is tied in to both.

If it is the headlight switch you have to remove the dash bezel to get to the nut (#11650) that holds the switch in the dash.

This is the rheostat you have to clean for the dash light brightness.

The yellow button is the arrow you push down and hold down when pulling on the headlight switch **** to get it AND the shaft to come out, AS ONE PIECE. So you can get the dash bezel off.....to get to the nut holding the headlight switch in the dash.

Dash bezel removal walk thru. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post14982704

Following, I literally have the same thing going on with my 79. Fuses are ok, might be a bulb but to have them all go seems odd.

Well, This morning i got in my truck and turned the rheostat in the on position and what do you think. All lights working! only downside... My blower motor didn't so i couldn't see ***** where i was going. Only thing is when putting it into gear, the gear indicator light goes off. When turning the lights on and off it comes back on again. and the doorlights are still not working. So need to do some more digging.

Check the fuse for the blower motor.

You mean the dome light (when you open the doors), does not come on? Or you mean when you rotate the headlight switch all the way to max the dash lights and then turn the dome light on (with the doors closed) is not working?

No i mean the lights in the foodwell. Almost next to the fusebox on the driversside and the same for the passengerside. I'll try to take a picture later today. And will check the fuse for the blower motor!

Pull the headlight switch...clean/adjust the winding/wiper on the switch, and it bet your dash lights will work correctly.

For the blower motor...make sure the fresh air ducts are clean of debris, pull the blower motor, and bench test with 12 v.

if it doesn't pass the bench test, replace blower motor.
Do the above after you confirm the fuse is not blown.

The lights down in the footwell/ under the dash are called courtesy lights and they should come on with the dome light.
