Curious about two things on my transfer case (was going to change the fluid and noticed these)
1) I can't tell if there is a missing bolt or something here on the top left:
2) the mounts/rubber pads are loose - is this simply the pads have shrunk? or... is the bolt backed out and need to tighten back up? (I didn't make enough effort to try and move it, so no idea if it's loose, I know... go check that - I will right now after I post)
Looks like some one has already been in there and replaces the rubber pad with a square one. OEM pad should be round. And that double nut set up is for sure a PO deal.
I assume this is for the 1974 F250 in your signature? Those mounts are different than my '79. I am guessing it is a divorced transfer case?
Regardless, the mounts pre-77 were different, here is an image from the mount kit available on Bronco Graveyard's site. It appears they are two pieces, you still have the square piece, but it appears you're missing the donut shaped piece.
Regarding the empty hole on the transfer case itself, I have a newer married NP205, but on it there are two holes that do nothing other than pack full of grease and dirt, they are not threaded. I am guessing these holes might be used in other applications for something but on my application they are just extra holes.

More than likely those holes are locating holes when the case was machined.
