Carter carb ID ????

The original Carter carb on my 79 250 with 300 shaft base is worn out so i picked up a Chinese one for temp use until I found the time to dedicate on repairing the Carter.
Now the question I have is which of the following numbers are what you call the carb number. To be able to track down proper repair kit.

MFG By
Carter for
Motorcraft
Also has
Made in USA
on other side

numbers on body of carb 72899
on top section 6 2433 or COULD Be G 2433
on base 2656

Posted this on the main page but no responses. thought since it was on the 300 might try it here......
Thank you, Alex

When I needed to rebuild my Carter I just gave the store the year of my truck and motor size and they got me a kit that worked.
No need for a carb number but take all of them to the local store and if they ask you got a bunch to pick from.

As for the knock off carb if it works run it.
Because my carb was a big mess, missing parts / screws and wrong screws used that where there.
So I picked up a knock off off Ebay just in case.

I had a miss fire under load and thought maybe carb so I installed it.
I run a AFR gauge and the carb ran really lean. You can adjust the main needle / seat with out taking the top off the carb once you know what type of screw the adjustment is. I am running 14.5 to 15.5 sometimes 16 AFR.
I am not looking to go back with the old carb at this time.

ps the miss fire was a bad plug that had 28K on them

Dave,
Thanks for the response.
I have been doing some research and going to get a Walker kit for my YFA.
My problem is the throtle body is worn some and causes the idle to be iradtic just not constant, 800 rpm
Will get the bushings for 5/16 shaft clean up and rebuild.
Just finally got time to play with it.
Thank you again, as your replies always make sense.....
Oh yea,, the chinese KO does run ok just not as good as my original MotorCraft YFA.

You are welcome.

I wonder if your KO is lean like mine was?
I dont remember how it ran when lean as it has been a bit since I installed and adjusted it.
I have also backed the timing off some from 16 BTDC to about 12 BTDC as a guess as I did it on the fly as I was getting pinging under heavy load pulling a trailer and it been running better so I left it.
