Did some elec work (LED lights in dash & added cig lighter) Now tranny grinds when I try to put it in park and other gears do nothing. 96 F-250 7.5 gas. ????
I can only assume the truck is not moving when you are doing this. If the truck is moving, stop putting it in park when the truck is moving.
If the truck is not moving, nothing in the output shaft should be moving. Since this is the case, the park pawl should engage. There are places where the pawl will not engage until the output shaft is move a few degrees.
This is probably a 4x4, right? The transfer case is in neutral. If not, the rear differential has failed.
Wow, thanks a lot. You probably know how much time and frustration this saved me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there something I can do for you or this or your site?
Thanks for your timely response. I need help with this stuff and it is good to know good people like you all are offering to help. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!!!!!!!
Just an FYI, Mark was correct. My 4X4 selector was in neutral, I felt so ignorant but so relieved it was that simple. I moved the selector when I was changing to LED lights in the cluster to be sure they were lighting up. By the way, I learned the LED lights have and require the proper side to be hooked to positive. This has been fun, thanks again.
