Steering Issues

I am having steering issues with my 2006 F150 STX 4.6L. I have noticed at low speeds it seems that it is harder to turn. About four months ago I rebuilt the whole front end with the exception of the rack n pinion. When I am driving at highway speeds it doesn't seem to be an issue and I don't get any excessive noise from the engine compartment. I checked the fluid, and it is at the proper level, and I couldn't find any leaks. So, I am wondering if the power steering pump is getting ready to go completely out or if it could the rack n pinion I didn't replace. Any help would be appreciated thanks

have you checked the steering shaft itself ? the shaft ujoints get corroded. makes it harder to turn.

I would then check the rack and pump for obvious signs but, you say the fluid level remains good so...

How many miles on the truck? Are the tires "normal" sized?

I suspect it's power steering.
