1996 ignition control module
hey guys, done my research. At least tried. Truck was running cold and wouldn’t get to temp and would shut off on me. Needed a new thermostat. Now it gets to temp and runs a lot better. However, I changed the ICM, I was suspecting this to potentially be an issue too according to some trusted old friends who drive ford trucks. I replaced the black ICM dy-1077. The truck drove much better after thermostat change, but every now and then it will crank like it’s misfiring or something. When I get to 35 mph it shakes really bad. Thought the ignition coil was causing this, but I changed it and it’s still shaking bad it. Driving down the road I got these 4 codes following changing my ICM- yes I replaced with another black DY1077 that I ordered from rock auto. Codes are now on all the time. Makes me think that maybe I need to change back to my old ICM, I’m not sure. What are your thoughts?
btw: truck specs - 1996 XLT 5.0 302 engine.

Remove your distributer cap and blow compressed air at the PIP sensor at the bottom of the housing.
appreciate it. I heard in my truck, the dy-1077 should be the correct one but I’m not sure.
Here is a good thread on the topic: Do you have the right ICM? gray vs black
As Paul stated the aftermarket ICMs tend to not be 100 compatible even though they are black. First clue is getting the missing IDM code even though the ICM is supposed a CCD version.
I would run through the pinpoint tests steps for that 1351 code after tuning it up and checking the fuel pressure
Don't just check the fuel pressure, drive it around with a pressure gauge on it
Anytime you have a module without the IDM circuit, you get the code (1994 and newer)
