Hello
This is my first time posting here, but I have a new to me 1966 ford f100 camper special. Today when starting it, the area behind the ignition switch began smoking and smelled of burning plastic. Upon inspection I found the yellow wire looking pretty melted. Before this, any time I used turn signals the oil light would blink with it as well in unison... I'm not sure if it's one bad wire/fuse or there's a gremlin. Any advice would be much appreciated!!
The yellow wire provides power to the ignition switch from the battery. Sounds like you have too many things hanging off of the ignition switch to provide power to other things or something downstream that is shorting out. Not gremlins but potentially a fire waiting to happen.
