Greetings all, I have a 77 F250 that I want to swap out the under dash speaker since I am installing a new/old Am/Fm Cassette radio. The stock speaker appears to be a 5x7 and fits in between the defroster ducting. Bolts directly to the under side of the dash with 2 screws. Has anyone installed a fresh speaker setup without any modifications. If so what did you use?
Retro Manufacturing says that R-507N might fit but they don't have a specific listing for my year, make and model.
Classic Car stereo's say that 3075 DVC by Custom Auto Sound or SDC570 by Antique Automobile might work. I don't want to pay shipping and such if they wont fit right. SUGGESTIONS??
Get the old one out, measure it and then purchase a better grade of 5x7 (or what ever size it is) and swap it in. Or just get a set of door speakers that mount behind the door panels and get stereo sound. I put a old school AM/FM cassette player (Craig) in my old truck and a hung under the dash 40 watt amp. And but some box speakers behind the seat.
I don't think a dash speaker will provide stereo sounds, even if it's two in one. Rummaging around in the basement, I found new in box pair of Optimus 3" 60 watt each 4 ohm speakers in housings with adjustable mounts, wondering how they sound if used like out at the ends or under the dash pointed outwards toward occupants? . I think I bought them to use in a police car that didn't ever have commercial radio until I added one.
