This is so odd. I took ownership of my xlt December 6th. I ordered it I think late Octomber. It came fast. Was built the week after the strike ended in Kentucky. The dummy hub posting came up last spring. I was shocked. Never knew I had it. Luckily I had only 2500 miles on it. Folks with Tremors reported they had the working hubs on both sides.
I was one of the first ones to change over to a working hub. I couldn't see how it would hurt the truck. Just didn't make sense. I took a chance. I had only to put the short vac tube on and the hub. Took about 20 minute. Tire stayed on.
After weeks or months others posted they didn't have both vac lines and had to order both. Also back orders were being reported for the hub's as well. Odd.
I'm reporting now I have 28k miles and everything is fine. Shifts in and out smooth still. Plowed all winter with it. Took my truck camper over 4300lbs across usa and back for a total of 11000 mile trip as well.
Seems I made a good choice. Good luck to those changing over.
The the ability to be able the manually lock my hubs has saved my but a few times. Fords vacuum system fails. You have no 4wd. I earned this when I got stuck on a forest road . Locked the hub manually and drove right out. Not sure how long or want it have cost to get help back there.

There will come a time when your hubs will not lock as easy as they do when new, you'll need a pliers or some tool to assist in rotating them. I went through three pairs (warranty) until I finally replaced them with after market hubs....just like the old school set up and no more "auto lock", love it too.

It used to be regular maintenance to repack your wheel bearings and that was the perfect time to inspect, clean and grease your hubs. My OBS has the same all metal Mile Marker hubs since 2008 and they still turn as easy as they would if new. It is a 15 minute job to remove and service just the hub.

I use 4wd pretty often, if I notice the hubs not turning freely,I will lube them. I have been thinking of putting warn lock out hubs on my truck rather than Fords hubs . But , the factory hubs seem to work, so why spend the money for the warns is where I’m at.
Its when the large o-ring fails and leaks vacuum, hubs won't engage and this is why you can manually turn them. In my case all my hubs became corroded between the plastic actuator **** and the aluminum housing, (the aluminum surface will bind against the plastic) making it difficult to turn by hand. I use my hubs daily too, applied small amount of light machine oil in between the plastic/aluminum, water, salt, mud takes its toll. New Warns are in now and all is better.
