I suppose the most simple question would be: is there a difference between 4.9L injectors through the years? And if so, how can they be identified?
Details behind my question- I swapped a 1993 4.9L into my 1988 F-150. I kept the injectors from the 88 as rebuildable spares. But I have also ended up with another set of injectors and can’t remember what they came out of- if I ever knew in the first place.
I know they will all fit, but what I don’t know if they all have the same flow rate or how to tell the difference if there is one.
I’ve googled to no avail.
Pictured are the various injectors. Two complete sets. Both are stamped 9F593 one one side. On the other side, one set is stamped F1ZE-B4C and the other is E67E-B4B
Thanks in advance.
They're all the same flow rate, the main differences come in nozzle design. Older injectors have a pintle coming out of the nozzle, whereas new injectors have 4 holes. The 4 hole injector is a more efficient design, but are way less forgiving to crud buildup. The pintle style injectors also seem to have incredible longevity overall vs the 4 hole design, take that for whatever it's worth.
Thank y’all for the clarification.
Now that I think about it, it’s possible my extra set may have come from a V6 Bronco 2. Am I correct in understanding that as long as they are the same color, I should be good to go?
