So I recently did a single injector on my passengers side/ I got more codes after doing this one and found my ficm was disconnected a little bit made sure it was fully connected replaced Icp and it still ran terrible, I decided to just get ffd 155/30 injectors that will be here tomorrow I pulled all my injectors yesterday and had 2 look very terrible was wondering if anyone knew why they look so bad…
To me it looks like maybe the copper crush rings had failed on a couple of them allowing blow by from the cylinder. That's usually from not using new ones (if they were ever out and serviced at some point) or maybe incorrect installation torque, or oil in the blot hole upon installation.
Another possibility is that the bottom external o ring was leaking, allowing fuel to get to the bottom of the injector. I noticed some of them look pretty rough.
When you install the new ones, be sure to:
Blow out the bolt holes first, making sure no oil is in the bottom so that won't give you a false torque reading
Give them a good oil bath, soak them down good! It's messy but lubes the o rings.
Before you put the oil rail back on, fill the tops of the injectors with oil so they wont buzz dry. (use a turkey baster or syringe)
You may already know all of this, so sorry if I'm being repetitive.
I also have to add -
Use a calibrated torque wrench (usually you can get a calibration done for $25 to $40 or so if you have a decent torque wrench).
Get the right length Torx bolt socket for the torquing. Some cheap long ones flex a little or are loose in the socket, and the short ones can't be properly oriented vertically.
