speedometer/odometer not working
Hello Ford truck enthusiasts. I am currently trying to fix my speedometer issue. Which is, it is not working. I have a new speedometer cable on order but haven't received it yet. So in the mean time I would like to pick the brains of my fellow enthusiasts as to what could be the cause. When I start moving forward the speedometer pegs out at over 100 mph. The old cable is free spinning, the ends are still square, also when i reach behind the dash and turn the little attachment point for the cable, it spins freely also. Sooo if there is anybody out there who can shed some light on my problem I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it. Thank you. Victor.

That’s a weird one.
It’s almost as if the gearing for the cable is wrong and the ratio is incorrect.
If possible I would rule out the speedometer itself.
Do you have access to a second one that you could test?
The system is super simple. It consists of the speedometer, cable and then the gear within the transmission.
it’s a weird deal for sure but should be a super easy fix.
