hey guys i just got done putting new oilpump in my truck i had to jack the tranny and also the front of the motor up. after i got it all together when i started the truck up (my dad pointed out to me) my speedometer was peged. I gues the truck just is showing it wants to go fast? but serously what could be the problem? i never noticed that before but i never really even looked at the speedometer. Please help once again!
thanks,
jimmy
On the older trucks the speedometer is mechanical (almost sure that yours is). A flexible cable connects between the back of the speedometer and the transmission case. Possibly this cable got crimped when the transmission was lifted.
Look under the dash and locate the back part of the speedometer. If you see a cable connected to it, trace this cable through the firewall and to the transmission. With luck, this will be an easy fix.
