Decided to wake up the 5.4 today I had tried the Flow FX on the 2014 hemi 5.7 I had and did not like it it popped on full throttle sounded like it had straights on it so today I am at muffler shop and was going to go magna flow or something then the Flow FX came up in conversation. and I thought no, we talked a bit and got off on flow 40 and 50 series talking about the full metal muffler leaving you with the dreaded drone and he said he had not had anyone come back saying they drone with the FX so I thought WTH the other was on a ram this one on a ford It wont be the same lets try another one. Boy I am glad I did that Is exactly what I was looking for good mild sound at idle good accel sound but levels and dies down at cruising leveled off on mph same all the way up my 80 mph test good tone just enough to let you know its there but livens up a bit on acceleration. This one Is a win for me you can take a trip has passengers and not have to try and talk over the truck. Note left cats and stock pipe it was fine just done a muffler swap and rolled edge tip. Of course like other pack mufflers it will more than likely get some louder as it breaks in will drive it next week and update any changes good and bad if any
Number of years ago, the Flow Master 2.5 SI / 2.5 DO set up that was on my '07 Scab when I bought it developed holes. I had put a long 2.5" ID red Cherry Bomb in front of the FM to tone it down. It was a muffler shop install, welded joints and all. Anyway .... I ordered a Legato Bros. all 3.0 SI / 2.5 DO stainless steel system, used clamps, it had a copy of a FM muffler but shorter. I cut the old stuff off, put the new on, fit was perfect, but it droned bad. Really bad to my way of thinking. I bought a new 28" long 3" core stainless steel Cherry Bomb to put ahead of that little chambered "muffler". It still droned. Remembering the weights I've seen on some cars, I built a clamp on weight, it cured drone easily 90%. The two weights were once on a crown vic, they are steel with concrete filler and I welded them to a piece of steel clamped to the front pipe.
I did add some silver paint to the SS Cherry Bomb to cover the chrome looking polished surface.
The Legato system 3" front pipe had a reduced front end to fit the 2-1/2" truck Y outlet.
