Lost keys

I have a 1999 f-150 4.2l. It was my grandfather's truck b4 he passed. Both sets of keys are missing. My question is can I buy and new ignition switch with keys and it actually start the truck?

Find a good automotive locksmith to cut and program some keys for you.

The PATS module in the cluster won’t recognize new keys just because you got a new ignition cylinder. So, crank away, but the truck will just sit there.

Get the keys made. Pull the computer out and send it to get the PATS removed....then I bet she'll crank.
Total cost....about $75 and a little wait .

Forescan also programs for PATS, but unsure if one needs the OG key. If not, yes have deleted and I would just rekey the entire thing. Mine from Wolf Security.
