tire pressure sensor battery replacement?

hi all. i have a 2012 sd XL 4X4 that i had to buy a tire for . before that the bad tire would lose around 30lb'spe r week, so my tps would read low until i topped off at 70lb's. then it would read fine. after the new tire mount and Ballance, it reads low when its not and also occasionally shows a "faulty sensor message. it never showed that before. so aside from accusing them of damaging the sensor, i was told it could be the battery. how do i go about checking/ fixing that?. I should also state that i had put all tires at 60 lbs after reading on here about a smoother ride. the door jam sticker says 80 max load so i was running 70 then went to the 60 till i get my new shocks this weekend. do i have to re program or something. any advice would really be appreciated. also, how much ballpark. thanks, in advance

Generally speaking, the battery is considered non-serviceable. It is also inside the base of the valve stem, inside the tire.

If you do a google or amazon search for TPMS sensors for your truck, they'll pop up (just make sure you get the right frequency). It's probably cheaper and easier to just replace the entire sensor.

Had sensors on my 2014 replaced last year. Still had original units and they were really corroded. It may just be the timing of what's happened and not anything shop has done. New pieces were installed without removing tires; shop just pressed tire down at that point, changed part, and reprogrammed.

Sensors are probably as old as the truck, best to replace all of them when you have new tires installed as they install from inside. Not sure but there is a possibility the truck's program might be able to have a lower setting before the light comes on, I don't know what the trigger PSI is. Aside from the fact they should eliminate this garbage system from all vehicles as there is no way around it as it's mandated by law.

thank you Eman85. i had only one semi used tire put on. i will be changing them (the sensors), when i get some jack for tires. till then i tried topping them all back at 70 psi the other day when i put on new shocks and still get fault message. could removing my battery cable for x-amount of time, reset the sensors maybe till then? or option 2 a guy i work with has diagnostic program for his laptop. could that reset the sensors for like 1 month? thanks again all. love this forum.
