Help With 1951 Mercury VIN Decode
Can’t seem to find any info on Paint code 22 and I was also told my truck had a “deluxe” cab but VIN says “standard” cab what are the differences between the two?
MDA83AHN-33876
MD = M1 (1/2 ton)
A = Standard (Conventional)
83 = Pick up 114" WB
A = Standard Cab (trim)
H = Home Office (Windsor)
N = 1951
33876 = Assigned Sequential number
Trim 14 = red Vinyl seat
Paint 22 = ?
According to my books, the Standard/Conventional Cab doesn't indicate a Deluxe/Custom trim level:
A=Standard/Conventional
B=Bus
D=Diesel
J=Parcel Delivery
U=Dump
W=Cab Over
However, there is this forum post that contradicts that, but it does show the features of the Deluxe/Custom cab: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post20958034

I've got the same codes here, but the literature is a bit confusing. I read it to say that a third letter, lets say is MDB would indicate a bus (would actually be SUB for a Merc school bus).
Then the body code 81/83 would be followed by A or B indicating trim level of standard or custom.
