Shifter rough to move.

I have just acquired a 2003 Excursion with 6.8L V10. This is the first time I have ever dealt with a Ford shifter that was the opposite of sloppy. It’s stiff and feels like it drags from position to position.

I seem to remember years ago guys having problems with the TRS, which I plan on swapping out cause it’s reasonable cheap. Is there anything else anyone can think of that could cause this? Gonna try and soak the cable down to see if that helps (sure can’t hurt)

Appreciate any and all insight.

Maybe someone added to the bushings in an attempt to correct the looseness? You can look through my post of when I replaced the worn parts, and tightened the loose ones to see if there is something different.
