IWE issue I think

2017 F350. 115K miles. Recently started getting what I think is the IWE grinding. This started shortly after having the ball joints replaced so obviously the front end was torn down for this. The noise seems to come from the left side and it is intermittent. It will start after driving awhile. Switch to 4H does not change or stop the noise. Breaking doesn't either. Coming to a stop and taking off again does stop the noise. I'm thinking of unplugging the solenoid to see if the noise comes back when the hubs should be fully engaged without vacuum. Thoughts or experience with these symptoms?

IWE on a 2017 F350? IWE’s were on 150’s, the 350 should have vacuum hubs with manual override. IWE default to locked when you lose vacuum, so if it’s a 150 they could have forgot to reconnect the vacuum line. If it’s a 350 they could have put the hubs back together wrong.

Super Duty uses CVH (continuous vacuum hublocks), no vacuum is unlocked and vacuum is locked
F150 uses IWE (integrated wheel ends), vacuum is unlocked and no vacuum is locked
