So, on my 2024 I have a year of connected navigation included. I've verified in Fordpass that it is active. I see in sync4 that it says connected services are active, yet I never see traffic info on the maps?
That’s interesting that a 2023 truck gets built in nav and 2024 doesn’t. It should be the same hardware, from my understanding. If their wording isn’t a mistake, and I doubt it is, it seems to say that on the 23 you will be able to continue using the nav after the trial, just without updates and connected features. 24, you won’t.
I thought it was at least separated by generation of truck, but apparently it’s much more blatant. I double checked mine, and it is just “connected” not “connected built in.”
That’s a really crappy revelation. Seems to be following the BMW trend of making you pay for features you’ve already bought.
There is a very slim chance they’re just trying to clean up their naming scheme and the functionality will be the same. My gut says no, because if I turn off connected features in the settings, I don’t believe nav continues to allow me to enter destinations and such. Seems to be a strange strategy to push people over to CarPlay and Android Auto navigation considering their implied desire to collect as much data as possible.

It was, but not sure now, connected built in nav, depended on trim level or options, like premium trim upgrades.
AFAIK, The actual hardware is the same, just software difference.

The truck I was looking at when seeing the connected navigation is a Platinum. I’m not aware of what other trims may offer. Maybe there’s something to that though?

I think in the ‘23s, the 3 year trial was trim dependent. My ‘23 Lariat Ultimate has the 3 year trial of connected nav. I have used it a small number of times, but not with the towing feature. The routes I pull my TT I already know the height restrictions. I typically just end up using google maps as I can type in addresses without having to be stopped
RE: the connected built in nav, I have a plain-jane 23 lariat.
It definitely works and it shows traffic but I agree there are much better options, even Apple Maps. It's nice to have when there is no cell reception.

Platinum all have the connected embedded nav, and AFAIK, comes with a 3 year subscription.

My ‘24 platinum is only connected, and the trial is only for a year. I’d guess the hardware is there for embedded, but that’s not how it’s branded. The screenshot I showed above is from my truck.
