both of those numbers came from the top line on the tags bolted to the rear cover. the numbers on the bottom line indicate gear ratio / limited slip / and date of manufacture from what i understand. is there a different model number i should be using for interchange? the truck in question is 1999 rwd with auto and 7.3 diesel. thanks
99-04 f250/f350 and 99-05 excursion 2wd/4x4 rear axles will work, early 99 trucks had one brake calliper flipped but doesn’t matter for a swap.
The axle code on the door jam will be what you want to compare if you want the same axle or one with a different gear ratio or limited slip, an axle code with two numbers in it will be an open diff, one number and a letter will be limited slip, the number crosses over to what gear ratio it is.
05-10 will bolt in and have bigger brakes but require bigger rims (17” minimum), different offset rims so they don’t stick out 1-1/2” on each side, abs sensor on the diff needs to be swapped to the older 04-earlier sensor and the e-brake lever will need to be changed to accept the older e-brake cables.
