Solid front axle swap
I have a 1991 Ford F2 5.8 L 4 x 4
What exactly does a axle swap entail and how is it different from when I have already

What you currently have is a TTB front axle which allows each wheel on the front to flex individually. If you swap to a solid axle, when one when goes into a hole the front axle flex's in a different way. It compresses the suspension on the opposite side of the truck in the front.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...swap-info.html contains some information.
And fullsizebronco.com has a whole forum dedicated to solid axle swaps.

Why not? Solid axle rides better, is more durable, looks better, won't eat ball joints, it's a win in every direction.

The angle of a TTB can cause binding if you make it "flex" too much while you are off roading since the axle flexes in the middle and on the spindles. I straight axle only has flex on the spindles/ball joints and the whole axle moves.
Simple terms, less moving parts to break.

The cheaper swap is a dana 44 from a 78-79 f100 or bronco. That's the route I'd probably go because it's setup for coils not leaves.

The OP has a 4x4 F250, it already has leaf springs. Plus it already has 8 lugs.....

I always get a kick out of all the misinformation thrown around when this subject comes up.
