Bad zf6 noise & clutch issues?
Hello, hopefully this would be a/the correct place for this post but;
I have a 96 7.3 with a ZF6 swapped into it, been about 20k miles ago and the clutch since I put it all in has been very stiff, but would disengage 100% and worked great!
I recently just started having an issue where I would have the clutch in and it would be screeching/chirping while I am not moving, and it has more recently become harder to get into any of the lower gears, I figure it is no longer disengaging all the way. I have clean fluid in the master, have had no leaks and the slave cylinder is seated in its locking hole as it should be. I just got back from a 60 mile trip (which I rarely go more than 25 miles a day for anything, everything I haul is very local) and near home I started getting terrible backlash when I would go to accelerate and deaccelerate. I had to be very easy on the accelerator to not continue letting it slam.
I have been reading elsewhere on here that it can be pilot bearing, and throw-out bearing (or excessively worn clutch down to rivets).
I bought this transmission out of a late 99, supposedly it was a south bend clutch, I figure the pressure plate is also not factory? I had the flywheel machined, they put a pilot bearing with it and I bought a new throw out bearing from LuK I believe. I had no broken springs on the pressure plate. The clutch looked great with lots of material on it. Splines looked clean on input shaft along with clutch.
I figure if I go to drop this transmission back out, any recommendations as what to do and what part # to order? I had tore out 2 automatics, having to bring out this zf6 is going to **** me off.
