Insurance on my 2020 is $1700 a year through State Farm. I drive the truck about 8000 miles per year. I had a glass claim and a hit and run (somebody backed into my fender and left).
Tried to go to Progressive and they said I had too many claims?
I guess glass claims are held against you? What doe a new windshield cost? Maybe I need to buy the next one out of pocket?
With todays tech, those windshields are $800-1200 or a little more. I'm with state farm as well but I'm at $1100/yr. A year ago it was $800/yr. Good luck with progressive. Having some experience with them, that would be last one I'd go with.
I was with Liberty Mutual for several years. Had a rear glass claim on a 2002 Explorer 5 or 6 years ago. They denied it due to "age and use". Yet they had no problem issuing the policy with full glass coverage and taking my money, knowing full well the age of the vehicle. I dropped all 4 of our vehicles and moved on to another company.
I paid $400 out of pocket to have a local outfit come to the house and replace the glass right in my garage. They stated that this would have been a $1200 job with Safelite.

I have a $250 comp deductible so I paid that on the last windshield. Guess I need to call the glass company and see what the total cost would be.
Of course insurance went up for everybody but when Progressive one of the top three providers can save you $1800 on three vehicles it makes you wonder
Same situation (same exact claims in the last 2 years) and I need to start shopping monday. Probably paying around $14,000 a year for all my vehicles.
Gonna sell one, drop one, put one on classic car insurance, and shop out the rest.
Getting crazy out there….
So you're also filing insurance claims for $1k repairs?
I'm not trying to be rude, but that's exactly why insurance carriers raise premiums on you or drop you. They see you putting them on the hook for small expenses. They're not charging premiums expecting that type of claim activity.

$1000 is not small change for lots of people......

Another question for anybody with State farm and you are using the Drive and Safe app.
My truck discount is only $7.11 while both my cars are over $250 each. One car is driven 1500 miles a year and one 15,000.
Anybody else got a truck that's getting a pitiful discount? Mine is about 8000 miles per year and 90% of that is towing from TX to CO. Wonder if they are penalizing me for towing? If so they must somehow know I am towing?
One of the few benefits of insuring in Florida is windshield damage does not hit your deductible, and I don't think it increases your rates as my wife had two replaced in 3-4 year period.

Someone side swiped my truck and ran. Was a few thousand, forgot.
And the windshield was something like $4200 but was in a low production collector modern classic ‘supercar’ situation, but its on Hagerty with my other classics. I may sell a couple of those too.
And I forgot I have a 1 of 250 WS6 Firebird Formulas not insured at the moment. I need to add that before this hurricane hits, yikes!

These are $100k+ trucks new, used they're still typically at or above the median cost of a new car in the US. I get that $1k is a lot of money for a lot of people, but it kinda comes with the territory for something like this.
Driving one of the most expensive vehicles on the road unfortunately means you will have repair costs that are typically in excess of the lowest cost vehicles on the road....

New ones may be 100k but they won't give me that if I wreck mine.
Comp claims generally don't increase your rates, however having multiple in a short period of time could I suppose. I would not claim anything less than a $1,000, due to you will pay it back then some if they raise your rates, due to claims.
