I been with state farm now for 30 years, our policy has free glass replacement. I do think it cost a couple bucks a month more but well worth it. I have had 2 windshields replaced, 1 I broke and no increase whatsoever in our premium.
With Farmers my 2019 F350 is $971/yr, here in CA. I do have glass coverage that has a $100 deductible. Both my wife and I are retired so our annual mileage on the truck and a Fusion is pretty small.
Insurance on my 2020 is $1700 a year through State Farm. I drive the truck about 8000 miles per year. I had a glass claim and a hit and run (somebody backed into my fender and left).
Tried to go to Progressive and they said I had too many claims?
I guess glass claims are held against you? What doe a new windshield cost? Maybe I need to buy the next one out of pocket?
This is why I carry window repair kits with me for chips or stars before they take off and run. People say glass claims don't count but lets be real if it cost the insurance company money it cost you. Crap rolls down hill.
Insurance carriers don't care about loyalty any more. I switched to Progressive 10 years ago from State Farm (30 years) and did save quite a lot of money the first few years. This year the Progressive premium really jumped so I shopped around and am now with The Hartford through AARP.
When I checked with AARP 10 years ago they were much more money than Progressive.
Been with Gieco for years now. Every time they raise the rates I shop around, only t find they are still the least expensive. My 2019 F-450 is $1200 a year, but my 2014 Flex is $1160 a year. What sucks is Liability alone on my 2007 RAV4 is $610 a year and I don't have my son on the policy yet as a driver since he only has a permit. Imagine the rate jump when he does! Between 4 cars and the 5th wheel I pay $4500 a year with Gieco. The only ones who show up that "might" have a better rate on Credit Karma is Progressive, but I got a quote from them that was a little higher with higher deductibles. I may seek out different RV coverage, that might save me money. No trips planned this year thanks to brandons economy, so money wasted on insurance on something that sits.
I have had Gieco total two vehicles on me, neither at fault, both due to weather, and they did not raise the rates like one would assume, but over the years their rates have gone up. I remember when a truck a car and the 5th wheel was no more than $1100 a year with low deductibles and car repair insurance since both were new Both were driven more than 20K miles a year too. I am on the hook for glass coverage since I now have $1000 deductibles to keep the rates down. .

Don't be afraid to shop around.
I also went with The Hartford through AARP a few years back when I had the experience with Liberty Mutual mentioned in my previous post. No problems so far. But then again I've only paid premiums, no claims.
I shop every January when the policy comes up for renewal. The most recent comparison kept me at The Hartford.
Previously Liberty Mutual beat The Hartford but not this time around.
One of the few benefits of insuring in Florida is windshield damage does not hit your deductible, and I don't think it increases your rates as my wife had two replaced in 3-4 year period.
The word benefit used the same sentence with FL auto insurance shouldn’t be allowed!
FL auto insurance is nuts. I pay over 2500 a year for my 23 F250 which is actually a few hundred less than the 2013 it replaced. No claims, no tickets in over 20 years.

FL is a very litigious state. I was very happy with what it costs to insure my vehicles when we left! Especially happy with homeowners insurance rates. Yes the windshield thing with Florida is pretty nice. But now I get to keep more of money annually. If I have a problem, I'll pay for it and not rely on insurance unless it's something huge.
Another question for anybody with State farm and you are using the Drive and Safe app.
My truck discount is only $7.11 while both my cars are over $250 each. One car is driven 1500 miles a year and one 15,000.
Anybody else got a truck that's getting a pitiful discount? Mine is about 8000 miles per year and 90% of that is towing from TX to CO. Wonder if they are penalizing me for towing? If so they must somehow know I am towing?
My state farm Drive Safe discount is $156 for 6 months. The premium is $275 for 6 months.
Now, the 2020 F250 has a $2000 deductible. Driven 7K miles a year. Last ticket was in 1982.
I never consider making a claim due to issues like your situation.
That drive safe app has made me a better driver as well.
Most small claims should be paid out of pocket. People always say "that's what I have insurance for". Wrong. You have insurance for large claims, damages, etc. You're in a wreck (at fault) and there is $100k or more vehicle damages, someone was hurt or possibly worse. You'll never pay that in countless premiums over the years. THAT is what it is for. Not some $500, $1000 broken windshield or door ding.
Some people wonder why they get cancelled for having 4 or 5 windshield claims and then run into a ditch in the snow...all within a couple of years. That's why. People using it as a crutch for every little thing, puts a bad mark on them. Having your credit pulled is also a way for insurance companies to see things. Who do you think makes the most claims???
