Hello all
I tried the search function, and most of the threads pertained to 04 and prior models. I was interested in the ARB front bumper, but they are not available for the 2005 excursion, but it is available for the 2005-07 SD. Will this bolt up without modification?
If someone has a thread to point me to that would be great as well.
1999-2007 Superduty and 2000-2005 Excursion fronts are identical for 75% visual and 100% structure (frame/non-suspension). Essentially you can mix n' match the parts you like. It's common for guys to run 99-04 bumper with 05+ grille (cut down). Many swap the 05+ bumper/grille onto their 99-04 trucks because it's a 100% bolt-up. Almost everyone cuts the header panel and installs 05+ single piece headlights. Once you realize they're so interchangeable, it's really what you prefer the look to be.
Visually:
99-04 Superduty (00-04 X) have a single piece bumper, short grille and 2 piece headlights.
05-07 Superduty (05 X) have a 2 piece bumper, different foglights, longer grille, and single piece headlight
Underneath:
header panel for the 2 different year groups. 05+ has headlight cutouts for the single piece lights and the grille lower clips are in different location.
bumper supports for 2 different year groups. specific to year groups
for the ARB bumper you asked about, it will 100% fit your 2005 Excursion without any modifications besides "maybe" drilling a mounting hole on the frame horns where bumper will mount. You already have the 05-07 grille. Someone with a 00-04 X would have to swap in a 2005+ grille to make it look right
