I got a 96 f150 Eddie Bauer. It’s a 4.9l 2wd manual with cruise control. My dad was driving it and said the steering wheel locked up as he was turning, then it finally broke loose again. He drove it home and now the steering wheel is locked and won’t move. He has been told by multiple people the locking mechanism broke in it. We have multiple junkyards that have searched across 3 states and nobody can find a steering column that will work for it because it’s a manual transmission. Does anyone know where I can find one online??
get a column for an automatic transmission and combine the two.
Ive been told automatic ones won’t work and there’s a very big difference between the 2. Also Ive been told I can just take it all apart and remove it completely and it’ll be fine
What locking mechanism? I wouldn’t take someone’s word on what broke. The truck is not currently drivable so take it apart to see what happened.
Whatever part in the steering column allows it to lock and unlock when the truck is shut off. It is currently locked and will not unlock. I planned on doing that soon

The ignition actuator broke? Is it hard to start the truck or does the key still turn normally?
