you can't beat the Edge CTS-3 for small size and the ability to read ALL of the PID codes.
I have the Diesel Street Kit on mine, it gives me EGT, Coolant Temp and Fuel Pressure sensors.
this is the Main Screen as I have it programmed prior to the EGT kit being installed
This is the 2nd of 3 screens, not showing the 3rd screen
This screen is before the new kit for EGT.
any one of those PID selections, can be changed on the fly for anything you might want to see that is NOT currently in view.... you just can't beat the versatility of the Edge CTS monitors
It appears as if the graphics designers went to great lengths to make the data presented unreadable... adding diagonal stripes in the background of the second screen, and a bizarrely kaleidoscopic pattern on the first screen.
Mathematically speaking, if we broke down the number of available pixels on the small screen into two groups... pixels depicting data, versus pixels depicting distracting designs... hands down, by the time we finished adding up the pixels devoted to each camp, the design camp would dwarf the data camp 100 to 1.
And why does Edge make the speedometer the largest gauge in screen 1, when there is already a speedometer in the vehicle, that is typically the largest and most readable gauge on the dashboard. Beyond not understanding the need for having redundant speedometers... even if this redundancy was justified to verify the accuracy of the OEM speedometer, is there any need for the second speedometer to also be the biggest gauge on the CTS3 monitor whose very purpose is to display information not shown by the OEM instrument cluster?
@Y2KW57 the cts3 is fully customizable. You can change every background and every screen layout. You can make the big gauge any pid you want. Can changed the hasb marks on the little gauges and everything. You can set it up exactly how you would want it. Colors. Literally everything. It just has a couple defaults pages and some peoole don't know you can make any gauge on them display whatever you want.
I guess part if it is I'm OLD. I don't get the thrill of graphics on a gauge. I don't get all of the BS on the Sony radio in the truck either, I have wasted a lot of time just trying to figure out how to stop the light show in the radio. I'm more of a function over form person, just wanted simple glance at them gauges.

It has that on the cts 3. You can do a simple 3 round gauge display on the screen if you would like.
Since you don’t like pillar gauges, there’s a couple options besides the CTS3 which no one has mentioned.
Some folks install a F650(?) lower dash panel and cut holes how they like. The problem is they are down low and wouldn’t be an easy glance. A search should show some stuff up if you’re interested.
I think someone offers an overhead gauge pod and a dash mount.
Personally I run an old CTS1 and some pillar gauges. Mainly because things were added over time.
Y2K, some folks might want to see “corrected mph” if they have different size tires. The CTS has that function. I’ve used it briefly on one of the small display locations but prefer to just mentally add the correction.
I use the Speedometer reading because the Dash gauges are too low for me to see, and they are Invisible with the eyeglasses that I have to wear.
( they filter out certain colors that blind me -- cataract replacement lenses in both eyes )
I even have the Fuel Level in the Top right corner on my CTS-3,
why? because I ran out of fuel one night in Colorado on an Emergency "gotta there right now" trip at 2 a.m.
After that little costly mistake, $150 towing bill to add insult to injury, and a 2 hour wait for the tow.
I put the fuel level in the top right corner.
and here is how much I put in the Excursions 44 gallon tank....
there is a SUMP on the tank, so it drank the very last drop available.
lucky the Excursion has an Electric fuel pump. I cycled the key 10 times before I tried to start it, and it fired right up, just like it should.

It's pretty simple to correct speedometer with forscan. Just have to use computer version. Can't do it with the forscan light.
@John in OkieLand I've had the cataract implant surgery, some lights especially LED's will cause streaks or halos. One of my trucks the radio will do it to me which is why I had to figure out how to program this trucks radio so it wouldn't blind me.

those Halos are very frustrating, it has been 3 years or more since my surgery, and the halos are still there, is when a light hits my eye from about 30 to 45 degrees off center line-of-sight. it catches the edge of the implant, and that creates the halo
aggravating watching TV or reading a book, and a lamp in the far corner of the room, causes a halo when you move your head left/right....
my eye Doctor prescribed that I must have UV and blue light filters in my eyeglasses, that just totally makes a car radio or instrument panel go completely BLACK...
hence, me setting up the CTS-3 with functions that duplicate the instrument panel.
EDIT: no way am I condemning the Cataract Implants.
without them, I was totally blind, and I like riding motorcycles. I quit when I noticed that I could no longer read road signs unless they were within about 100 feet....
for that matter, I quit driving my truck....
now, with the Implants, I have 20/20 vision w/o eyeglasses, with some Astigmatism, but 20/20 none the less, I drive w/o eyeglasses most of the time.

Yeah, it’s been on my to-do list for quite some time. Just never got my round-to-it yet. I didn’t realize it required the pc version. Thanks for the info!

It has to have the extended license as well. Can email them and get free trail for a month or so I think it is.
Personally, I prefer discrete gauges. Mine are pillar mount as you can see from the video but there are pods available to mount them elsewhere. I went with Autometer. They're on the expensive side but I rather have instruments that provide readings I can trust.
