Hi all. I’m in a toss up, looking at a 17 sc xlt 4x4 5.0 with 180k great looking truck clean carfax I can get it for 14,500. Or a 13 sc xlt 4x4 5.0 with 200k for 10k in your opinions which would be a better purchase
Thanks
I just traded my rough 2004 Heritage with 235000 miles for a super nice 2017 crew with 213000 miles. $21450 OTD for a one owner that just had the 100000 mile service done and super nice interior. My first absolute was 2015 or later in my price range because that was the first year of the all aluminum body, so I would go with the 2017. Jim.
Nobody ever posts about the 10R80 in their truck that has never given them any trouble and there are several hundred thousand of those people out there.
Up until 2017 the 5.0's had the 6R80. The Ecoboosts came with the 10 speeds.
And then, only the 3.5 EcoBoosts had the 10 speed in 2017. 5.0s, 2.7 EBs and 3.3 NAs still had six speeds. In 2018, everything except the base 3.3 switch to 10 speeds.

Don't forget the IWE problem.
My 2020 10 speed, 55k miles, is issue free. I'm sure it is waiting for the powertrain warranty to expire in 5k miles. It does have some goofy, sloppy shifts on occasion.

Soon after getting my 17 with 3.5 10 speed , I stopped a local transmission shop to chat with my friend the manager .
he was saying how he gets evety possible brand of car in there .
i asked about the 10 speed Ford , he said he had serviced them , but had never had to repair or replace one , guys that had problems probably abused them
It's a great transmission, not one lick of a problem ever. Am I the first or only one to say that. LOLOh I like the 17 Aluminum stuff except for my Fifth Wheel Hitch.
