Not knocking riffraff in any way, but my engine runs smoother on the one I bought from International.
I'm interested in a technical explanation for how that is possible including exactly what the cam sensor measures, how the signal is used in the PCM and the changes the PCM might make that would affect engine "smoothness" and a definition of "smoothness"
Well I'll be... in all these years I never made the connection that our cam sensor was basically also doing the job of a crank sensor. Thanks for squaring me up.
What always irritated me is the old school OEM black CPS, which at the time was commonly noted as running smoother, has a big frikken magnet. Look at the pics above. Hung like a horse. Problem was it failed often.
And all the subsequent versions that survive longer have a smaller magnet.
Does the bigger magnet that provides better resolution to the PCM somehow harm the internal circuitry of the CPS? Was the internal circuitry lacking from the get go?
