So I have a 1991 ford f150 xlt lariat 302 4x4 single cab short bed. The E4OD took a **** and instead of rebuilding I figured I might as well manual swap. The truck I found is a 1996 ford f150 xlt lariat straight 6 4x4 single cab short bed with a M5OD so I figured it’d be pretty easy since I have pretty much every part I need and the two are pretty much the exact same. Is there anything that I need to look out for or need to do extra? Like maybe the ECU or wiring? Any feedback would be very appreciated?
Thank you I didn’t think about that. I figured since I’m already in there I’d do my rear main seal as well so I was already gonna remove my flex plate.
Flexplates are for automatic transmissions flywheels are for manuals.
The 5.0 is externally balanced and that is the motor you have so you need a 5.0 flywheel, the imbalance weight of a late model(82+) 302/5.0 is 50oz.
Not sure if someone with a bricknose will chime in here but in my experience everything bolted right in, however both my truck and the donor were '94. The fire wall already had the hole for the clutch master cylinder and the plug for the clutch safety switch was already in the wiring harness tucked up under the dash. The transmission crossmembers are different but the manual bolted right in. I would consider grabbing a Manual ECM from the junkyard. That way the cruise and reverse lights will work with factory wiring. I had to convert mine from MAF to a MAP in order to run the correct computer but yours is already MAP so you should be good to go. Just food for thought. All in all very happy with the M5OD swap. I'd do it again, it was worth it. Good luck and keep us updated!

Sweet thank you very much you answered afew of my questions. But I am still wondering if the clutch and brake pedal assembly will bolt right in since they’re different body styles. Or do you know if I would need the one for my year truck? I’m going to pick up the truck tonight so I could figure it out either way. I’m just trying to put together a part list of everything I might need.
They won't bolt in. I just searched the forums. Different firewalls. Sorry man
No problem I guess I’ll have to find one or order one or make it work. There is an extra plug or two kinda next to the brake pedal that I never could figure out what it went to so I wonder if it’s the CSS.
