1991 f150 lariat - 1996 f150 xlt body swap

howzit. i m getting ready to swap bodies from a 1991 f150 lariat 4x4 to a 1996 f150 xlt 4x2. i want to build me a 4x4. i m using a 1991 f150 lariat xlt 4x4 chasis. the body on the 1991 is rusty and dented. i removed the bed and cab already. the chasis is still solid. im will be coating and rebuilding all that has to be rebuilt before i put the 1996 f150 xlt cab onto this chasis.
my question is "what kind of problems will i encounter swapping the 1996 cab and bed to the 1991 4x4 chasis.
thank you for your answers in advance.

might be just as easy to grind off the rivets and unbolt the TTB and swap everything to the newer truck and bolt it in.
helped a friend of mine do that a few years back. pretty easy when you got the donor truck right there.

thanks. i was thinking it would be easier to change the cab and bed. the 1996 is only a 4x2. the 91 is a 4x4. plus i alreeady removed the cab and bed from the 91. if i didd what your saying then i would need to change the whole drive train and front suspension. thank you forr replying

yes i figured so thank you. the reason i am asking this questions is because the body lift kit for the 1991 has less items then the kit for the 1996. so i was just wondering if i will have any major problems.

its not easier to swap the bodies
but if you got one all removed already.....proceed.
you need help to swap the cab and bed.
you can swap every part of the 4x4 system by yourself and a jack in a couple hours.

I agree with little husky. I would have just swapped all the 4wd stuff into the newer truck.

well i dont agree. i would have to change the whole drivetrain, motor trans, transfer case. front suspension, front axle rear axle and springs. thats a whoe lot of uneccessary work. with the body swap all i have to do is take off 20 -25 nuts and bolts which i will have to do to put a body lift kit anyway. you guys are taking this project way out of context. i know its simpler to do the body swap. if you read my question correctly you will understand what i am asking. thanks for your input i do know what im doing. im doing this all myself. my other question is why does the 96 lift kit have more items then the 91.

I would not put on the body lift. Its a lousy way to lift a truck.

The kit may have different parts, because of bumper relocation brackets.

thanks fellas for your reply. i am purchasing the lift kit today. i got the 91 4x4 for free i was just looking to change the motor in my 96 but since i got the whole 4x4 91 w/351 i figure i turn my 96 into a 4x4 and thats what i am doing. i am doing the body lift kit now since i am changing the cab and bed anyway. thanks texasguy for your reply thats what i figured for the brackets i just wanted to make sure i wasnt gonna get an unexpected result. i will eventually do a suspension lift but for now i will stick to the body lift.
