Seat Belt Mounting Bracket
How many places does it need to be welded into place? There is no way I can get the brackets to the frames to be welded all the way around. Just in a couple of spots.
Alsowhn I put the interior panels in I assume they have to slide behind the flange or at least the rubber gasket does so I have to be sure it is welded with enough room for the at gasket I assume?
I need to have someone who has a mobile welder come in and weld it on. Can I just use the points where the bracket already touches the metal as the welding points? I don't have the tools or equipment to go reshaping the metal. It's really thick.
Thanks for any help. Always appreciated.
You can clearly see the gaps here
Big gap here
No way the holes line up with anything
Same here. Holes are miles from any attachment point
I don't have a proper torch. Only one of those yellow canister torches from the hardware store. No way that will get it hot enough.
bummer I didn't get the right ones. So, warning to everyone to not not to get them. They were very expensive at $150.
Maybe if I can get someone to come over to weld them we can cut them smaller and bend them so they can be welded in.
Thank you for the feedback. Lots of thinking on this one.
I will get out the BFH and some ear plugs and see what I can do.
To get it to fit I had to flatten back down a bit as you guys said. Then I had to bend the the angled part out so it would sit flush on the window side. To be able to get it in and out I had to do a bunch of trimming to get it to "slide" in and out. When I say slide in and out I mean I needed a rubber mallet to hit it in and then take it back out every time I needed to adjust it. Before bending it there was no way to get it in by sliding it down.
I forgot to take pictures of the modifications I made. I will do that next time I take them out.
Right now I need some perspective. The questions are with the pictures. General question is how did you template it so you could drill holes in the right spot?
Here we go:
I got the plate to sit properly along the door frame and window. However when it sits down against the rail the bottom hole by the window is exposed. So is it supposed to go higher? Next photo shows it higher.
Here it is raised up so all three holes on the bent flange side are behind the window frame. Is that how high the bracket is supposed to sit? Seems like that must be it if that is where the holes are properly situated.
Driver's side bottom hole is exposed when sitting on the support.
Same on the Drivers side. Raised up, holes are behind the frame.
This is the door frame side. Nice and flush. However, when you go to install the interior panels there is the rubber channel that slides over that. It clearly doesn't fit behind there once the bracket is installed.

Once that bracket is in place how do you mount the rubber gasket for the interior panels to slide into? Loosen the bracket and slide the gasket between the bracket and the steel?
This may be helpful. From the 61+ guys. Going with Julianos seatbelts.
