What are the symptoms of body mounts going bad? I feel like my truck has some abnormal bouncing with it. Not the super duty hop, although that is pretty darn bad, its more on sharp bumps at lower speeds that I get some quick shaking/ whole truck vibration. Vibration isn't the right word though. The shocks have less thank 10k on them, with Carli 2.5 springs. Stock tires and wheels. Ranchhand bumpers hanging off both ends. I'm just curious before I borrow a GoPro and stick it under there to watch them. They do look a little worn, but I'm no expert on them at all.
The #1 indicator is when you take a turn down a hill and hear a creaking sound. Easiest way to tell is to take a look at them. The OEM mounts are notorious of rotting out.
Got under my truck tonight... I'm saying the Carwell annual spraying has kept my mounts in good shape with a truck that has 8 winters under its belt...
Time for new tires?? Looks like its showing the wear bar.
Those are the original Michelins on the 20 inch wheels the truck came with... They had been sitting in my shed. I run those Treadwrights on factory 18 steel wheels in winter. I've got another set of Michelins in my shed they wore goofy but still enough tread to run them and burn them up like I'm doing on those LXRs before I buy another set of 20s. I've driven in rain and while they are just about at the wear bars, they are good. I don't drive like most morons do on the expressway when going into work... They sit in the hammer lane at 75 to 80 bumper to bumper... I just watch and wait for the wreck as they go flying by me in cruise at 65 mph... Yeah not saying I never drive fast but people drive like @$$ wholes these days...
Clunks are a good indicator that a body mount is shot. Just crawl under and look at them, there are 6 for a Screw or SCAB, and 4 for regular cab, Touch them, if they feel hard with little give, similar to the shock mounts, then they should be replaced. If you see cracks, replace them. If you don't see them, replace them. That pic up above is what mine looked like.
