I had to grab something out of my truck tonight and by chance noticed that the driver side puddle light wasn’t coming on. The passenger side was illuminating properly. I can’t think of a setting that would turn one off but not the other. I can’t say it’s never worked, in fact, I thought it did work. Not sure how long it hasn’t worked, I usually just go to the driver side and get in. This time I got something out of both sides and noticed it.
I haven’t played with it at all, but I turned off the welcome feature that puts out the steps and turns on the lights as you walk up. I did that over a month ago. I was tired of the steps popping out when I walked by. What I’m talking about is when you push the unlock button on the key, or touch the door handle. Had both of them not worked, I probably wouldn’t have noticed, if I’m honest. If I did, I would assume it was the welcome feature being off.
I did some messing around with it today, and I confirmed that the passenger side always seems to work, and the driver doesn’t.
When I turned on the driver side in zone lighting, the puddle lamp does illuminate, so it’s not a hardware fault, it doesn’t seem like. I turned on welcome lighting, and it still didn’t work. the only thing I can think of is the Lincoln style auto fold mirrors mod in forscan. I remember wanting to try that, but I don’t remember if I ever did it. If I recall right that could affect the puddle lights. I’ll take a look and make sure that’s off.
Figured it out, it was due to the Lincoln auto fold mod, which was a noted problem to expect. It’s all fixed up now. It was my fault. ---not only was it my fault, I only broke the driver side because I only did the mod on one side. Great, right?
